THE YPA HANDBOOK
The YPA has produced a handbook giving full details of the Association's activities, contacts,
the Association's Rules and the Competition Rules, and lists of speakers and judges. The
Handbook also gives information about the history of the YPA, previous Conventions and
competition winners and full details of all affiliated societies. Copies are held by each
society's YPA delegate and are available for reference by all members of affiliated societies.
REGISTER OF SPEAKERS
WILLING TO GIVE DISPLAYS
Refer to the YPA Handbook for a full listing of speakers willing to give displays. Contact the
Editor
to add your name to the list of Yorkshire speakers.
The ABPS publication Philatelic Lectures and Displays
gives a listing of speakers from further afield. In addition the
Leeds Philatelic Society can
provide displays from their Society Collections as follows:
1. The Leeds Philatelic Society's Reference Collection of Forgeries and Fakes.
2. The Leeds Philatelic Society's Collections of Yorkshire Postal History (Mainly Leeds area),
including the Edwin Peters Collection of Horsforth Postal History and the Francis Buckley
collection of Yorkshire Postal History.
The YPA offers the following guidance in approaching and entertaining speakers:

Give prospective speakers a choice of dates and give them plenty of advance notice.

Offer expenses, and for speakers travelling a long distance, overnight accommodation if required.

Provide details of venue, timing, number of sheets to be displayed and a location map.

At the meeting restrict society business to the minimum out of deference to the speaker.

Speakers value a Certificate of Appreciation as a memento
of the visit.
REGISTER OF JUDGES
Refer to the YPA Handbook for a listing of members of affiliated societies willing to
judge competitions at society and federation level.
ROLL OF DISTINGUISHED
YORKSHIRE PHILATELISTS
Since 1976 the YPA has been honouring philatelists that have made an important contribution
to philately in the YPA area by recording their names on the
Roll of Distinguished Yorkshire Philatelists.
Societies wishing to propose a candidate for election to the Roll should consult the Handbook for the
criteria and format for a submission. The closing date for a submission is the 31 December each year.
AFFILIATIONS
The YPA is affiliated to the
Association of British Philatelic Societies and provides
an important link between philately at local and national levels.
Individual affiliated societies can also become members of the ABPS and secure advantages for their
members.
